Geoff loves talking to people about bikes and biking and is happy to work in a cooperative environment where sharing ideas is valued. When he’s not working in the shop he helps to organize Box Dog’s morning and evening group rides and, in his free time, volunteers as a mechanic-educator, teaching people how to build and maintain their own bikes. One of his favorite bike getaways is an overnight in beautiful Samuel P. Taylor State Park in Marin.
Eric has worked in bike shops since 2008 and was a messenger before he became a mechanic. He really enjoys installing fenders for customers but his favorite repairs are the ones that require him to scratch his head. Eric loves mountain biking in Annadel State Park, climbing Mines Road, and riding mixed terrain in the East Bay hills. When not on a bike, or at a repair stand, Eric may be found skateboarding, walking his tiny dog, or behind a set of drums.
Emily is primarily a city biker, but also loves riding in the Oakland hills and taking occasional bike camping trips. Emily organizes many of Box Dog’s community events, manages large scale shop projects, and keeps Box Dog connected to other Bay Area cooperatives. She feels lucky to be part of a truly democratic work place and especially likes working with customers who ride everyday and use one bike to do a lot of different kinds of riding.
Angus began working in bike shops in 2005 after years of tinkering with bikes in his garage. He loves doing detailed tune ups that make customers’ favorite bikes function and feel like new. Angus also enjoys working on Box Dog’s online shop and values having multiple roles within the cooperative. Born and raised in San Francisco, Angus rides his old Fuji “frankenbike” all over the Bay Area, but Golden Gate Park still remains one of his favorite places to be on a bike. .
Hailing from the swampland of Washington DC, Sarah enjoys working in a cooperatively-run bike shop where she gets to see her and her co-workers’ ideas in action. Her favorite things to do at the shop is working with Spanish-speaking customers and planning our summer bike camping trips all over the Bay Area. Sarah enjoys riding her bike in the open space around Mt. Diablo. When not at work you can find Sarah throwing down on the soccer field, cooking, or talking with her mom on the phone.
