New Velo ORange Polyvalent Frameset

New Velo ORange Polyvalent Frameset

We have one of the new VO Polyvalent framesets.  The Polyvalent is their 650B Portuer inspired all-arounder frame.  Frame geometry can be found here, more information here.  We have a 51cm on hand right now and it is retailing for $400USD.  Another VO retailer, Old Spokes Home in Burlington VT, built one up and posted some pictures on their blog.  Come by the shop to checkout the frame or to place an order for a different size.  I expect to have a few larger sizes in Febuary or March depending on availability and interest.

The last frame from our most recent Pelican order is in.  I have one left that is not spoken for.  It is a 52cm 650b frame.  It will be the last frame for a bit.  Call us at the shop or come by if you are interested.  To review all of our Pelican posts click here.   Below are some detailed photos of the frame.

I want to give a sincere thank you to all of you who put your trust in us and ordered a frame.  Enjoy them!  Sometime this spring I am planning on doing a Pelican Owner’s Ride.  Maybe a mixed terrain ride of some sort…Stay Tuned!

The bike in the stand is customer/friend John’s BDB prototype. John built his frame in the style of the French Portuer bikes. John runs it as a 5 speed with a Phil hub, Schmidt SON Generator hub linked to an E6 front and a neat Cat Eye rear light/reflector on the rear. He is also running 700×37 tires on it too! Look for John cruising around the city on it. He says it rides like a dream with the panniers full and a cup of coffee in hand. Thanks John!

I decided to copy John’s style and I threw the Nitto Campee Front Pannier Rack on my bike. Here it is set up for camping or grocery getting. I really liked how it feels with the panniers on and loaded. It steers much better with this load setup than my Atlantis with the same setup. Since the BDB frame has a lower trail then the Atlantis, it’s not that surprising. I think this frame may double as my touring/camping bike now. I am going to throw some drops on the bike this weekend and ride it on some fire roads and maybe go camping if I have time. I’ll report back on how it goes set up as a rando/passhunter.

We have the Nitto Campee Front Racks in stock. They rule. I have not weighed them yet, but with the detachable pannier mounts they only seem to weigh a couple of pounds. They attach to canti/v-brake mounts or mid-fork braze-ons. They cost $180.00 If you do attach the rack to your brake studs, please use those neat Nitto double threaded bolts. We have these too at $20.00 a pair.

I also got in the 60cm frame for my friend Will up in Portland. It is going to be built up as a road All-Rounder. I’ll post photos of it when its done being built. Its going to be sweet.
