Swift Industries came by the shop last week to say whatsup.  Swift Industries is a new bicycle baggage company out of Seattle.  They construct panniers  and tool bags the old fashion way, by hand.  Swift is a brand new company, and I’m expecting some really cool things from them.  So far they are the first people that I have encountered who are making cordura/nylon panniers in custom colors/design here in the US.  If you are thinking about a winter tour at all think about contacting Swift industries.  Click through any of the photos to link to their site.

Fuck yeah that rules!  I’ve been wanting something besides plastic Ortliebs and wool Rivendells for years and the day has finally come true.   Here’s some text from their website:

Swift Industries is a two-person project run out of Seattle, Washington. We design bicycle panniers and hand-craft our bags from the very first cut to the very last stitch. We’re two kids who love bicycles, relish adventure, and have deep admiration for high quality craft. Swift Industries is the perfect project for us to fuse all three.

What you do: customize the colors and details on your Swift Industries panniers. Check out the side panel for color options, ordering information and design details.

We’re working hard to get you outfitted for your next trip or dabbling about town. Thanks for checkin us out!

You can order customized panniers and tool satchels through their website.  I’m hoping to set aside some cash in the early spring of next year and have them in for the ‘09 summer touring season.
