This August, cyclist Gabe Allen and a car collided while on vacation here in San Francisco. He sustained a severe brain injury and was not expected to live. After over six weeks in a coma, Gabe woke up. He has been at San Francisco’s general hospital for three months, and is making nothing short of an amazing recovery. It’s now time to bring him back to his friends and family on the East coast to continue his rehabilitation. A special medical charter flight is being organized, but it will cost upward of $20,000. To help defray costs, long time friend and bicycle frame builder Anthony Maietta is raffling a custom-built Maietta frame. 100% of proceeds go to Gabe’s flight home.
We here at Box Dog Bikes have been amazed and inspired by Gabe’s recovery, as well as the out-pouring of support from his friends, family and the bicycle community in general. We are honored to be selling raffle tickets for his return home. Tickets are $20. Raffle ends December 15th when Gabe Allen picks the wining ticket himself.
